HODL

What: Short for “Hold” or “Hold On For Dear Life”. The term originated in a 2013 bitcointalk post.

Why: Holding crypto long-term for fear of losing future profits. Many also HODL believing crypto will replace fiat currencies forming the basis of a future economy. However, Bitcoin was created to be digital cash, not digital gold.
